The Sea

Tasked with redesigning a book from the 1960s TIME-LIFE series, I chose The Sea as it is a topic I’ve always felt a connection with. In order to evoke a more natural aesthetic, I made original illustrations with ink, and paired them with gel medium image transfers of a friend’s underwater photographs. An original typeface was also created from ink to illustrate the weathering, powerful nature of the sea. Overall, the design was influenced by both the ocean’s characteristics and my own experiences.
